Australian Real Estate Agents Training to Identify Meth Houses
A Macarthur area real estate agent undertaking industry training says she was surprised to find training material instructing agents on how to identify homes that have been used as meth labs.
According to the training material, more and more houses are being used as meth labs, particularly in the rental market, as methamphetamine use has jumped by 52 per cent in 10 years.
In New Zealand, houses are regularly tested for traces of ice but in Australia it is not required.
Real Estate Institute of NSW president John Cunningham said the organisation hadn’t specifically looked at training for real estate agents on houses used as meth labs but did advocate for more safety checks to be completed by experts on homes.
