Luxury Cruise Captain Accused of Dealing Meth
THE commander of a West Australian cruise ship has been accused of drug dealing after a search on the vessel revealed methamphetamine.
WA and Northern Territory police raided the Kimberley Quest as it was docked at Wyndham Port on Monday, finding approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine in a few little clasp seal packs and other paraphernalia gear inside the boat.
A 55-year-old man, allegedly the co-proprietor, was detained and accused of two offenses including having a precluded drug with expectation to offer or supply, and is scheduled to appear in the Broome Magistrates Court on April 18.
Kimberley Quest said a substitution captain would oversee the crew and the first group of travellers, with all proceeding as booked.
The organisation said it had completely co-operated with police.
